"We patronize them for their incompleteness, for their tragic fate of having taken form so far below ourselves. And therein we err, and greatly err. For the animal shall not be measured by man. In a world older and more complete than ours they move finished and complete, gifted with extensions of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They are not brethren, they are not underlings; they are other nations caught with ourselves in the net of life and time..."    - Henry Beston

"Our first holiday with Hounds On Holiday was paws-atively AWESOME. We can’t wait to go back. Our holiday host was so nice and so calm that neither of us freaked out.  She walked us to the park lots of times, but was careful we didn’t get over-heated in this hot weather. Smart lady. She even took a different route each time so we didn’t get bored.  She let us wrestle around in her fenced backyard. She liked to snuggle and let us give her lots of kisses. It was a lot like being at home. One of us can be ‘a bit of a handful’ at times (we won’t say which one) but our host was so cool we could just relax and be the best dogs we knew how to be.

Our folks are sooooooo relieved. When we went to check out kennels, everyone was friendly but the thought of being stuck in a small kennel (even with a run) was brutal.  We’re country dogs and are used to being able to get outside a lot during the day. And mealtimes would have been hard there. One of us likes to steal the other one’s food. And that would have been a BIG problem. Some of the places might have been OK for a short holiday but we got pretty stressed out just visiting. We also think we would have been very lonely and sad at a kennel. We normally get a lot of attention throughout the day.

We’re so happy Hounds On Holiday will be arranging our next holiday and can’t wait to see our host again."

And now, a note from their owners:

"Our first holiday booking with Hounds On Holiday has given us new freedom and peace-of-mind, while our very social and spirited, young terriers had an enriching life experience. The key to this happy outcome was the successful matching process. One of our pups can sometimes be a handful (we won’t say which one either!) and we were concerned this would be too much for a host. Yet Hounds On Holiday was able to find a self-confident host and appropriate home setting. Trusting Gaynor Fletcher to figure this out was one of the best things we’ve ever done for our dogs and ourselves.

Gaynor should be congratulated for building and nurturing her network of devoted host families. We are very grateful to have an alternative to kennels so we can leave our dogs in safe, happy and healthy setting and we can travel without worries. Thank you, Gaynor and Hounds On Holiday and our wonderful, new (extended) family and for making such a loving home for April and Miller."
